Review AUDI RS Q5, Price, Specs and Release date

The new-generation Audi SQ5 has been criticised for being slower than its popular predecessor and for diluting its performance image by replacing traditional ‘S’ model quad exhaust pipes with fake outlets.

Audi could be saving the aggressive visual treatment for its mooted RS Q5, but for now it’s left the door open for companies like aftermarket German tuner ABT Sportsline to deliver performance SUV fans something sportier today.

Audi’s RS cars are known for their monumental performance, unshakable all-wheel-drive grip and excellent build quality. The next model in the firm’s range to get an RS makeover is thought to be the Q5 SUV. When it emerges as the RS Q5, it’ll offer even more blinding performance than the existing SQ5

Styling

The RS Q5 will get the usual Audi RS styling upgrades over the conventional Q5. That means larger alloy wheels with low-profile sports tyres, while the car’s track – the width between the left and right wheels – should be made wider to give it more stability.

Its front bumper will be deeper than the normal model and feature larger air intakes to better cool its more powerful engine. Wheelarches will be subtly flared to give it a more squat stance and the rear bumper will probably house a diffuser with two oval exhaust pipes poking out.

performance

The turbocharged 3.0 TFSI V6 engine develops its dynamic 260 kW of power harmoniously over a very broad engine speed range. The result is impressive acceleration of 0-100 km/h in only 5.4 seconds.

Exterior

Exclusive details signal the SQ5’s performance capabilities. Aluminium-look wing-mirrors, 21 inch Audi Sport alloy wheels with red brake callipers, a roof spoiler and S-specific air-intakes. While LED headlights with LED daytime running lights make a powerful impression and provide exceptional illumination of the road ahead.

The interior of the SQ5 combines luxury detail with true sports character. Features include fine Nappa leather seats finished with contrasting stitching in diamond pattern and electric operation plus heating for the front seats. The ambient interior lighting with 30 selectable colours and 5 colour profiles provides another level of exclusive individuality.
